In the Surinam toad, Pipa pipa, females absorb their eggs into their own backs. Here, the embedded young develop safely before erupting through their mom’s skin. There are frogs that do carry their young eggs/tadpoles on their backs so they can move them to a body of water. For example, the poison-arrow frog. They law their eggs on damp leaf litter, and when the babies grow into tadpoles the mother gathers up the tadpoles on her back and carries them up trees and dumps them in pools of water that gather in bromeliads.
