· In humans, the female contains a pair of X chromosomes that undergo division to form a gamete (egg). The female gamete is containing only one X chromosome. Thus, the unfertilized egg of a human female contains one X chromosome.

· In human males, there are two types of chromosomes X and Y chromosomes which forms two types of sperms (male gametes) one contains an X chromosome and one contains one Y chromosome.
