In sucrose two monosaccharides are joined together by an oxide linkage formed by loss of water molecule. Such linkage through oxygen atom is called glycosidic linkage. In sucrose linkage in between C₁ of α-glucose and C₂ of β-fructose. Since the reducing group of glucose & fructose are involved in glycosidic bond formation, sucrose is non reducing sugar.
